The German photovoltaic company Phoenix Solar has signed an agreement with Green Energy Slovakia, s.r.o,  on the planning and implementation of a solar park with a peak power of 2.2 megawatts construction work started in August.

More than 29,000 solar modules from First Solar and inverters from SMA will be used. The photovoltaic plant will be built at a distance of around 80 kilometres from Bratislava on two neighbouring plots of agricultural land and be connected to the grid before the end of this year.

This will be Phoenix Solar’s first project as a general contractor in Slovakia.  Green Energy Slovakia founded in 1999 part of the WEON group was responsible for developing the project.

Slovakia has an attractive feed-in tariff of 42.5 cents per kilowatt hour (Irish government take note).
